Moonraker Dolphin Swims was very pleased to win the 2011 Qantas Australian Tourism Award for best Eco Tourism business in Australia. Presented in Cairns on March 2nd 2012. Company directors were "thrilled to receive such a prestigious national award and be recognised for the hard work and dedication our team put in to ensure our business and tours are as sustainable and as eco friendly as possible."

Minister for Tourism and Events, Louise Asher.

As a Victorian Tourism Awards-winner, Moonraker Dolphin Swims will go on to represent Victoria at the Qantas 2011 Australian Tourism Awards in Cairns in March 2012.

Accredited Tourism Business

We are an Australian Accredited Tourism Business. This is recognition of our continual commitment to the highest standards of customer service, professionalism and safety. All of our tour vessels undergo rigorous maintenance and are all surveyed by Transport Safety Victoria. Our employes all hold qualifications above what is required for their position. In addition, regular staff training and performance monitoring is conducted to ensure the highest standards are maintained at all times.

Moonraker Dolphin Swim is proud to have achieved Advanced Ecotourism Certification for all our operations and cruises - the highest eco certification attainable here in Australia. This Accreditation ensures our guests have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the environment, as an operator this accreditation highlights our commitment to the ongoing conservation of our pristine environment and wildlife we encounter on a daily basis.

What is Eco Tourism?

Ecotourism Australia's Eco Certification Program, describes Ecotourism as: " Ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus of experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation."

What is the Eco Certification Program?

The Eco Certification Program is an initiative of Ecotourism Australia, which has established an Eco Certification Program Management Committee to provide policy and management support for the program.
The Eco Certification Program operates as a self-funding, not-for-profit program, with a Management Committee overseeing an Audit and Assessment Panel, which are chaired by a person independent of Ecotourism Australia.
Credibility with industry, communities and travellers is at the heart of the Eco Certification Program.

This is maintained through:

A rigorous assessment process including referees

Review and updating of criteria every three years to reflect emerging best practice

Feedback from customers of accredited operators

Audits of operators, including an on-site audit on the entire set of the Eco Certification Program criteria at some stage during the period of accreditation.
